Pony Express

- When I was around 7 or 8, I recall reading a book about the Pony
Express.
- My mother sent me that very book so that my
grandchildren could read it too.
- In that book is a story about one pony
express rider who had to ride for many hours in the dark.
- He was
riding during a war, so he watched his pony's ears for signs of
danger.
- Why?
- Because his pony's ears would move in the direction of
any sounds, and the rider could then infer danger from that direction
and ride the other way.
