Oh and two
Modified: 2021-01-08
It's baseball!
- In baseball, the batter gets three strikes and/or four balls.
- The "count" is given balls first and strikes next.
- Examples:
- one and one
- 3 and 2 (the full count)
- oh and two
- But, it's a little more complicated
- For the batter, 0 and 2 means there is only one strike left
- For the pitcher, 0 and 2 means the batter is nearly done
- What to do?
- Batter: must swing at any pitch that could be a strike. Being called out because the third strike passed by without a swing is embarrassing.
- Pitcher: throwing a pitch that is easy to hit and allowing the batter to get off the hook is also embarrassing.
- Strike Zone
- Batter defends it
- Pitcher attempts to put ball in or near the strike zone but in a place hard to it (low and inside)
